International Week "Futureproof education"

Dear partners, dear friends

For the 8th year in a row, HZ University of Applied Sciences (Vlissingen, the Netherlands) and AP University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Antwerp, Belgium) warmly invite you and your colleagues to take part in our joint International Week, taking place from March 9–12, 2027.

This unique initiative allows you to teach student teachers in two countries and experience both the Dutch and Belgian educational contexts, while connecting with fellow guest lecturers from across Europe.

Theme 2027: Futureproof education

This year’s theme invites you to reflect on the role of digitalisation in education. How do we prepare future teachers for a digital world, while maintaining human connection, creativity, and inclusion? We encourage you to link your workshop to the theme in a way that fits your expertise — the scope is broad, and there's plenty of room for your own ideas.

Programme overview

• Tuesday, March 9 – Workshops in Vlissingen: Teach and inspire student teachers (pre-primary & primary education) at HZ. In the evening, HZ will host a welcome dinner for all guest lecturers.
• Wednesday, March 10 – Educational & cultural activities in the city of Vlissingen.
• Thursday, March 11 – Workshops in Antwerp: Share your expertise with our student teachers of pre-primary & primary education at AP. In the evening, AP will host a dinner for all lecturers.
• Friday, March 12 – Educational/cultural activities & closing reception (Antwerp): We’re inviting you to join a cultural / educational activity in Antwerp in the morning. In the afternoon, join our students as they reflect on their experiences from the week.

Accommodation & travel

You are free to book your own accommodation. There a two main options:

• Option 1: Stay in Vlissingen: From Tuesday to Thursday morning, then travel together with the HZ team to Antwerp.

• Option 2: Stay in Antwerp all week: Commute to Vlissingen on Tuesday and Wednesday. You’re welcome to join the AP student bus (morning & evening transfers).

  Please let us know if you would like to join the student bus or travel with us on Thursday morning.
