Dirk Van Merode

Ing. Dirk Van Merode MSc finished his engineering studies in Electronics in 2002. His first educational experience was in secondary education, to earn his pedagogy degree. Dirk later moved to Lessius University College, currently renamed Thomas More University College, in 2007, to take up a teaching and research assignment. Since 2018 Dirk works as a lecturer and research engineer at AP University College in Antwerp. His field of expertise is in Internet-of-Things, digital systems design, printed circuit board design and production, embedded systems and audio-video production.

Nathalie Van Ceulebroeck

Nathalie Van Ceulebroeck (°1979) is a master of sociology and communication sciences. She worked for 10 years in the youth sector, providing pedagogical support and conducting practice-oriented research and practice development on children and young people and broad youth policy. Since the beginning of 2014, she has been working at the Artesis Plantijn University College as a researcher and lecturer. She conducts (action) research on educational themes such as children and young people, participation, inclusion and diversity.

Michel Tirions

Michel Tirions (°1967) is a social worker and sociologist and has been working as a lecturer and researcher at the Social Work program of Artesis Plantijn University College in Antwerp since 2002. Previously he worked in Flanders and the Netherlands in special education, with people with disabilities and in integration work. His research focuses on the capability approach, professional and normative identity and theoretical assessment of social work practices.

Beno Schraepen

Beno Schraepen (°1970) has been working since 1999 as a lecturer in the bachelor’s program Social Educational Care Work at the Artesis Plantijn University College in Antwerp. After completing his master's degree in Psychological and Pedagogical Sciences, majoring in 'Orthopedagogy and -agogy' in 1994, the postgraduate in 'Development Cooperation' was obtained at Ghent University. Until 1999 he coordinated a support service for inclusive leisure activities for adults with disabilities.

Maite Mallentjer

Since 2007, Maite Mallentjer (°1974) has been a lecturer in the bachelor's program in Social Educational Care Work at the Artesis Plantijn University College in Antwerp. In 1997 she obtained her Master's degree in Psychology from Ghent University. Between 1997 and 1999 she worked as a psychologist in a general hospital in the geriatric department. She also taught in secondary vocational education, home and elderly care. In 1999 she became a departmental psychologist of the Department of Elderly Psychiatry and took part in a structural change process.
