Stimulanz

Problem statement

The care and welfare sector in Flanders and the Netherlands has been under pressure for years. Due to the increasing demand for care and an aging population, the labor shortage will increase exponentially in the future. Furthermore, there is often insufficient alignment between education and the changing skill requirements of the labor market. In order to meet these challenges, the development of hybrid learning environments for (future) care providers with attention to the connection between education and the labor market, interprofessional cooperation and technological agility is of great importance.

Objective

With this project, we want to prepare (future) caregivers for the future through simulation environments. This allows (future) caregivers to learn and develop themselves in powerful learning environments with a strong focus on the connection between education, the labor market, interprofessional collaboration and technological agility.

Plan of action

During the three-year duration of the project we will focus on:

  • Setting up a cross-border learning network to exchange experiences and to map the existing potential of simulation environments.
  • The creation, implementation, testing and evaluation of various simulation environments - and scenarios for training levels 2 to 7 through the design thinking approach.
  • The development of a training offering for learners and trainers on technological agility and simulation environments.
  • The monitoring and evaluation of the products developed and the process followed. In this way we will gain insight into preconditions, barriers and success factors for powerful simulation environments.
Focus of the AP University of Applied Sciences and Arts Antwerp

AP researchers will focus primarily on the creation, implementation, testing and evaluation of various simulation environments and scenarios for training levels 6 and 7 through the design thinking approach. They will also develop training offerings for learners and educators on technological agility.
