Frederik Marain

Frederik Marain holds a degree in Philosophy as well as a degree in Economics (KU Leuven). He later followed an MBA Strategy at the Vlerick Leuven Gent Business School. From 1988 to 1996 he was business editor at the Economie editorial office of De Standaard, where he closely followed news and trends in Belgian and international business. After eight years he left the paper and became editor in chief/publisher at the Flemish Internet media company Planet Internet Belgium, a media company he co-founded. Currently, he works independently as an internet journalist and strategy consultant for the Ghent agency The Reference. He guides companies that want to migrate to the next generation web environment.

Since 1999 Frederik shares his journalistic knowledge in training courses:Free University Brussels, Erasmus Brussels University of Applied Sciences and Arts and AP University College. Through the journalism programme Frederik works as a researcher on research projects: "Show & Tell" (2017-2019), where he was responsible for the journalistic experiments with 360° video and the collaboration with journalistic partners, such as ATV. He is also involved in the postgraduate "Content Marketing" of AP.
