We develop and test experimental audiovisual production setups that utilize generative AI, real-time technologies, and audiovisual archives to create variable and adaptive content at scale, without losing the creator's creative signature.
Problem statement
The audiovisual sector is evolving from linear production processes to dynamic and iterative workflows in which content is continuously adapted, reused, and personalized. At the same time, the demand for large volumes of audiovisual content for various platforms, languages, and target audiences is growing, leading to a high manual workload, rising production costs, and inefficient workflows. Additionally, many organizations possess valuable audiovisual archives but lack the methods and systems to actively integrate them into contemporary production processes. Although generative AI and real-time technologies offer new possibilities for automation and adaptive content creation, it is not yet sufficiently clear how these can be deployed without losing sight of creative control, authorship, and originality.
Research questions
- How can audiovisual production be made future-proof by generating variable and adaptive content at scale, while preserving creative signature and originality? How can audiovisual archives be unlocked and integrated as active components in generative, real-time, and adaptive production environments?
- How do the roles of creator, audience, and system shift in future-proof audiovisual production?

Research method
- Literature and technology exploration regarding generative media and audiovisual workflows.
- We develop production setups and pipelines in which generative and real-time technologies, archival material, and adaptive components come together. These prototypes generate and drive variable content based on parameters such as user data (e.g., eye movements), context, and system input.
- We integrate prototypes into a concrete audiovisual use case, which serves as a test environment to analyze variation, adaptability, decision logic, the role of archives, and the shift between creator, system, and audience.
Expected results
- Set of experimental audiovisual production setups and pipelines for variable and adaptive content generation. Conceptual and technical architecture for future-proof audiovisual production.
