Embodiment in XR

Project description

XR producers are looking for ways to create XR experiences that have more impact on the end user. Many experiences do not achieve a sense of engagement with the virtual world, leaving the user disconnected from this virtual reality and achieving immersion. This requires a higher degree of embodiment, where the virtual and physical bodies are experienced as one. Despite limited access to (expensive) innovative infrastructure and limited knowledge, the potential for embodiment in XR is high. During this PWO project, we are exploring how embodiment can lead to greater immersion and engagement with the user's virtual self, as well as how XR producers can integrate embodiment into their XR productions through high- and low-impact techniques.
