Beno Schraepen

Beno Schraepen (°1970) has been working since 1999 as a lecturer in the bachelor’s program Social Educational Care Work at the Artesis Plantijn University College in Antwerp. After completing his master's degree in Psychological and Pedagogical Sciences, majoring in 'Orthopedagogy and -agogy' in 1994, the postgraduate in 'Development Cooperation' was obtained at Ghent University. Until 1999 he coordinated a support service for inclusive leisure activities for adults with disabilities. From 2000 to 2005 he combined teaching at the university college with supporting teachers in special education.
In 2008, he finishes the research project "The capability of schools for inclusion and diversity" and starts IncEna, the Study Centre for Inclusion and Enablement, a collaboration with the University of Antwerp. IncEna supports inclusion in education, housing and care, leisure and employment by offering tailor-made support, training, coaching or consultancy to professionals, managers and administrators. Participating in international projects and networks combined with practice-oriented scientific research guarantees high-quality knowledge development. His main research fields are inclusion, education, youth, leisure, quality of life and care.
