Meet the challenge by studying in Belgium at two university colleges specialized in tourism, hotel and hospitality management. Live and study for a semester in two of the most dynamic cities in the middle of Europe.

What?

The FlaHost programme offers you a unique way of learning about fields of Hotel Management and Tourism & Leisure Management. The FlaHost programme is a joint organisation of AP University of Applied Sciences & Arts located in Antwerp, campus Meistraat and Thomas More located in Mechelen, campus De Vest. Traveling by train from Antwerp to Mechelen takes approximately 20 minutes. Both campuses are located within a 10 minutes’ walk from the train station.

You have to compile your FlaHost programme by selecting 15 ECTS credits each at AP University of Applied Sciences & Arts and Thomas More.

For who?

This programme is meant for incoming Erasmus students, studying Hotel Management or Tourism at one of our partner universities/university colleges. The application for incoming Erasmus students is valid on the condition that they have been selected by their home institution.

You have to select courses for 15 ECTS credits each at AP University College and Thomas More.

Language courses:

  • Students will have to pass an entry-test in order to determine their level.
  • Possible levels:
    French and English: intermediate – advanced
English Language Skills

All Erasmus courses are taught in English. You will be asked to do papers and presentations, as well as the final examinations, in English. All literature is in English. Student attendance is also obligatory in all courses.

Therefore sufficient proficiency of the English language (B2) is recommended to be able to follow courses and successfully pass exams.

Students preferably select 15 ECTS from Tourism & Leisure Management courses (starting with YE) but are allowed to replace 1 or 2 courses with 'other courses' to obtain 15 ECTS. The combination of courses can be restricted by planning issues.

    Registration

    The registration deadline for the FlaHosT programme is 1st May 2023.

    AP partner institutions should nominate the student via an online survey. You can find the full application procedure here. Our programmes can only accept a limited number of students. After the application deadline, a selection will take place based on motivation/cv, study background, and, if necessary, date of application.

    Students will be advised before 15th May of their approval/refusal.

     

    After the selections, additional information will be given, pertaining to:

    • Welcome week and welcome day
    • Accommodation
    • Procedures for registration (residence permit)
    • Entry requirements
    • Activities, integration & facilities
    • Invitation letter, for visa purposes

    Thomas More partner institutions should apply via Thomas More University College Mechelen.

    Credits

    AP and Thomas More award 30 ECTS credits for one semester. Credits are awarded only when the course has been completed and all required examinations have been successfully taken. AP Grading Scale compared to the ECTS scale:
