Piano teacher Eliane Rodrigues releases her new cd Notturno on October 13th. She throws a fresh light on Chopin's noctures and ballads. Taking a page from Chopin’s own unwritten ballade narratives, Rodrigues includes text by Jantien Brys to accompany each nocturne, each one telling a sort of story without sacrificing the essential atmospheric nature of the nocturne. Recorded in Sacilie, Italy’s acoustically advanced Fazioli Concert Hall.
With La Voix Humaine soprano Naomi Beeldens brings a wonderful own interpretation of the intriguing masterpiece by French composer Francis Poulenc (1899-1963) an adaptation of the text by Jean Cocteau (1889-1963).
This piece "Ensaio para um s. joão" by Carlos Brito Dias, alumnus composition in 2014, post-graduation 2015 and currently Phd-student, was written between July 2016 and February 2017, as part of SoundMine (International course for composition with Wim Henderickx, Diederik Glorieux and Jorrit Tamminga) in Neerpelt. In this piece of approximately 3 minutes, traditional elements from Braga’s Festival of St. John (June the 24th) were used and reinterpreted.
 With the ambition to organize the first academic master's program Dance in Belgium in September 2018, the Conservatoire is preparing for a quality test that will probably take place this autumn.The test was preceded by the prior approval of the application by the Commission for Higher Education of the Flemish Government. The next important step is therefore an accreditation by the Dutch-Flemish Accreditation Organisation (NVAO). Once accreditation is granted, the program can be recognized and established.
Today June 8th, Google is launching We wear culture worldwide. It is a series of stories about fashion as an artistic form. Google choose the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp as one of their partners in this international project.
Congratulations to the Marimba Masterstudent Josue Berrocal from Costa Rica. He won the second prize at the International Marimba contest Italy 2017. His prize can be added to the extensive list of over 70 achieved international awards over the last 15 years by the students and alumni of Ludwig Albert.
From 11-15 September 2017 the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp is organising Summer School #2 'Making Public Domain'. The aim is to examine how public space can be made and what role art can play in this. The starting point is that public space does not actually exist, but must constantly be created and activated.  Early bird tickets are available until June 1st!  
Our student John-William Watson has made it to the grand final of BBC Young Dancer 2017! To reach the final he already won three selection rounds in the category 'contemporary'. For the grand final, each of the dancers has been teamed up with a leading choreographer who has created a brand new solo for them for the occasion. They will also dance a solo from their repertoire and a duet or pas de deux. At the end of the final, one will be named BBC Young Dancer 2017. Tune in 29 april at 21h (Belgian time) on BBC2. 
Starting from academic year 2017-2018, the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp offers the opportunity to obtain the Master's degree in Music in English. The Conservatoire offers five itineraries of specialization in English: instrument, voice, conducting, composition, jazz and popular music. The itinerary Music Pedagogy and the option Music Education can only be obtained as a Dutch master's degree.
The Royal Conservatoire Antwerp has appointed Korneel Bernolet as Professor of Harpsichord . He follows in the footsteps of Kenneth Gilbert, Jos van Immerseel and Ewald Demeyere. He will be teaching on the instrument collection of Museum Vleeshuis with the famous fabulous original Dulcken 1747 harpsichord. Read more about Korneel Bernolet.
