This research project wants to investigate how two important intermediate works by the composer Lucien Goethals (1931-2006) came into being and how they can function again within the art scene today. The project covers the works Vensters (1967) and Hé (1971). The original 16 mm films have not yet been digitized and a fourth planned movie projection for the execution of Vensters has never been realized. Karin de Fleyt intends to bring these works back to life and perform and record them with the HERMESensemble.
Poet Jan van der Hoeven’s (1929-2014) oeuvre from the 60’-70’ runs parallel to the work of Goethals. Jan van der Hoeven was a great source of inspiration for the composer. De Fleyt wants to map out their encounters and collaborations and publish them as a publication in which two art disciplines (poetry and music) enter into a dialogue.
