Nico Dockx lives and works in Antwerp. His work starts from a fundamental interest in archives and structural processes such as data, memories, information, distribution and management.
Results of collaboration with other artists, installations, publications, texts and videos often investigate the relationship between perception and memories, in which different interpretations are possible.
In 2005 Nico Dockx received a DAAD scholarship, he exhibited at Utopia Station, 50th Venice Biennal, Haus der Künst Munich, Monopolis, Witte de With Rotterdam, Through Time & Today and Musée des Beaux Arts de Nantes.
Dit onderzoek vertrekt vanuit de positie van bepaalde artistieke praktijken die machteloos en verstikt worden in de hedendaagse tentoonstellingspraktijk.
Met de benadering van het huis als speeltuin voor een verscheidenheid aan experimenten, wil ik met 'becoming a space' de basis leggen voor dialogen en acties op basis van actuele kwesties zoals structurele modellen van zelforganisatie, (zelf) duurzaamheid en onderwerpen als (artistiek) auteurschap, zowel collectiviteit als samenwerkingsverbanden.
With this research project, we aim to install a new version of the ‘Art History Room’ at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp.
