After his studies at the Royal Conservatoire in Antwerp (First Prize percussion, Higher Diploma & Master degree specialization marimba), Ludwig Albert was the first Belgian to be admitted to the famous Toho Gakuan Music School in Tokyo to further study with the world famous Japanese marimba virtuoze Keiko Abe. Since 1995 he has been providing masterclasses and concerts worldwide at prestigious festivals, he has produced seven award-winning label albums and has performed with renowned colleagues, ensembles and orchestras.
Albert is affiliated as founder and artistic director at the prestigious Universal Marimba Competition & Festival and at several international marimba academies such as the Keiko Abe academy and the Ludwig Albert Summer Academy. He founded the Flanders Marimba Ensemble and, from 2009, offers the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp a complete Marimba Master program.
His compositions have been published internationally at Beurskens music editions in the Netherlands and his signed sticks line is produced by Innovative percussion USA. Albrecht was awarded several awards, for his innovative movement method and for his premiere with eight sticks he received worldwide critical acclaim.
